Korea

I’m in Jecheon Korea at the music and film festival to represent Abdellatif Kechiche because he didn’t feel up to the travel.

Much appreciation to Abdellatif for declining because it’s the only reason I got to come to Korea.

I’m incredibly grateful to be in Korea. Honestly I’d have been willing to do hard labor or scrub toilets or whatever just to get to go to Korea. Instead I’m here showing a film and all I have to do is like, answer questions about it.

It’s almost ridiculous. I can’t believe I get a free trip to a beautiful film festival and I get to see all the films and go to the parties and all I have to do is answer questions about a film.

Maybe I should be an actor.

I actually feel like an asshole. The film makers that come to these festivals come for their career. They come to network.

It’s the main reason I did not pursue film. I don’t like to network.

Writing also requires networking but I love the writing so much that it is an evil I’m willing to withstand.

But acting itself is quite exhausting. So networking on top of acting is like, I don’t know about that.

I think I’d transform into a super bitch. And I’m already bitchy enough,

But I do feel a tad guilty. The people coming up to me and trying to be like, ‘ooo! Who are you?! Are you important?!’ And I have to try to find ways to be like, ‘no. I’m sorry. I did one film and I’m only here because the director couldn’t come.’

I don’t want to waste people’s time that are here to work and further their careers when I’m just here to enjoy the festival and perhaps at least do my part by properly representing Abdellatif Kechiche and the beautiful work he did on Mektoub.
